Pressure Washing in Chicagoland and Northern Indiana

Pressure washing is a fantastic way to prepare for many types of painting and restoration projects. No matter the type of project, cleaning the surface becomes a very important aspect of the project to achieve the desired result. Pressure washing, especially hot water pressure washing, is an efficient way to begin many projects.

Not properly cleaning the surface correctly can lead to poor results in the long run. Prior to any type of sanding, scraping, sandblasting or the like, it is necessary to clean any and all dirt on the surface. If this is not done, sanding the surface would actually push the dirt and other contaminants into the existing paint film. This mistake would ultimately cause the new paint to peel, as well as other adhesion issues.

Our team is versed in aspects of pressure washing such as pounds per square inch (PSI) and would be able to decide the best method for each individual project. In most cases, hot water pressure washers are more effective and quicker than cold water pressure washers. The reason is that heat will physically break the bond between grime and the surface to which the grime is attached. Hot water removes grease, grime and other contaminants whereas cold water would only move those around.

It is important to determine whether hot water pressure washing would be the best solution. McCahill Painting technicians are able to identify whether the surface is oxidizing, or whether the surface was previously painted with oil-based paint. In such case, hot water pressure washing would be the best approach.

Pressure washers deliver agitation, or volume. This is measured in gallons per minute (GMI) on the pressure washer units. Detergent may also be added to the pressure washer for added strength. Our technicians are able to decide the best process based on your individual situation. Additionally, at McCahill Painting, we make great strides to ensure that our methods are as environmentally friendly as possible.
