Commercial Pool Painting Contractor

Professional pool painting throughout Chicagoland, Northern Illinois, Northwest Indiana and Southern Wisconsin

We understand commercial and institutional pools are demanding environments requiring durable, long-lasting finishes that can withstand nearly constant use. These are not backyard pools and shouldn’t be treated as such. Successful commercial and institutional pool painting requires specialized products and methods applied by experienced technicians to ensure superior durability and surface performance.

McCahill Painting has the experience, equipment and highly trained workforce to properly paint and restore indoor and outdoor swimming pools for a variety of commercial and institutional clients. We paint both metal and concrete pools across many industries and environments:

  • Hotels
  • Schools
  • Universities
  • Fitness Centers
  • Athletic Clubs
  • Country Clubs
  • Park Districts
  • Municipal & Town Pools
  • Apartments
  • Condominiums
  • Water Parks & Recreational Facilities

I highly recommend McCahill Painting based on the excellent job they did painting our high school pool. I was particularly impressed with the thorough preparation they performed to ensure the new paint would be both beautiful and durable. McCahill Painting was on time and on budget, and our pool looks like new again. – Kevin Von Bergen, Director of Operations, Lake Forest Academy

Proper preparation is key to a durable, long-lasting pool paint finish

Preparation is easily the most important aspect of the pool painting process. At McCahill Painting, we meticulously prepare pool surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion and endurance. It can be a painstaking process, but we take no shortcuts. It’s our key to consistently providing clients with beautiful, long-lasting pool painting results. Preparation depends on pool condition, but rest assured we’ve seen it all and can provide the right methods to expertly prepare your pool surface for paint.

The Preparation Process

The first step in pool prep is to restore the surface to a sound substrate, which may involve hand scraping, sanding, grinding or abrasive blasting to remove paint, rust and other contaminants. Once the surface is sound, we clean it thoroughly using biodegradable, environmentally safe detergents.

Next, it’s time for repairs and priming. Every inch of the pool is examined and any holes, cracks or deterioration areas are addressed. Holes and cracks are filled with appropriate products and, in metal pools, any rust spots are sealed with primer.

Finally, we take one last careful square-foot by square-foot inspection of the pool to confirm we’ve addressed each and every repair and ensure the surface is ready for paint.

Successful pool painting requires the right products applied by skilled experts

Once preparation is complete, we apply a two-coat paint system typically consisting of a two-component epoxy pool paint. Our trained technicians skillfully apply the paint while strictly following all manufacturer application specifications. Once the main pool painting is complete, we apply any lane markers, stencils or other owner-specified identification markings. Just as in preparation, we inspect all areas of the pool and paint application to ensure full coverage and adhesion.

The pool must remain empty and untouched to allow the epoxy to cure for 7-10 days, depending on the epoxy manufacturer guidelines. After the cure period, the newly restored pool is ready to be filled and enjoyed.
