What is sandblasting and how does it work?
Sandblasting is an extremely fast and effective dry abrasive blasting method where pressurized air is used to blast sand (also called silica) against a surface to completely remove failing paint, rust, corrosion, dirt, chemical residue, and biological and environmental contamination.
Sandblasting is often used to prepare surfaces prior to painting, creating a surface profile that supports effective paint adhesion and a long-lasting finish.
While the use of sand gave this blasting method its name, other abrasives are sometimes used in this process including glass beads, garnet, and walnut shells.
Sandblasting is sometimes called grit blasting, media blasting, or abrasive blasting.
What surfaces can be sandblasted?
Sandblasting can rapidly clean and restore surfaces including:

- brick
- stone
- wood
For more delicate surfaces and for projects where we do not want to leave a surface profile, we typically choose a milder dry blasting technique like soda blasting.
